210,000 Strong – Devils Founding Members Reach New Milestone

26 May 2025

The Tasmania Football Club continues to capture the hearts of fans far and wide, with Founding Memberships set to surpass an incredible 210,000 this week.

Since our launch on 18 March last year, Tasmanians — and those connected to the island in every way — have rallied behind the Devils in extraordinary numbers. Whether from Wynyard or Wollongong, King Island or Kings Cross, our members reflect the powerful reach and passion of the Tasmanian spirit.

A Club for the Whole State

Consumer Business Manager Jesse O’Hara said the groundswell of support has exceeded expectations.
“When we set out to build this club, we hoped that many Tasmanians would get behind us — and they have done so resoundingly,” O’Hara said.

Our latest membership data shows just how widespread and diverse our Devils community really is:

  • Nearly 110,000 members currently live in Tasmania.
  • Around 20% were born in Tasmania but now call other parts of the world home.
  • 20% of members are under the age of 19, and 35% are under 29.
  • Close to 40% of our members are girls and women — reflecting a strong, inclusive club culture.

For many young Tasmanians, being part of the club is about more than just football — it’s about pride, identity, and possibility.

“To be able to see your own state play in the premier competition of the sport is an unreal achievement,” said Lochie Davey, a 19-year-old Founding Member.
“To not have to book a flight or anything — just travel across to Mac Point and watch a game — is unreal. To see people wearing the Tassie map on their jumper, I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Looking to the Future

CEO Brendon Gale said the growth of the club’s member base — especially among young people — paints an exciting picture for the future.

“Importantly, our understanding of the member base allows us to ensure we are connecting with all of our members in a way that is meaningful to them,” he said.
“We are particularly energised by the number of young people who are members of our club, and the percentage of both males and females who have signed up for Founding Memberships.
“To have so many young Tasmanians and young fans is such a healthy sign for our future and shows that engagement with this club runs wide and deep across the community.
“We strongly believe the Tasmania Football Club will provide significant on- and off-field opportunities for young Tasmanians.
“This is already happening, as clearly demonstrated by the 55 students studying in the Tasmania Academy of Leadership and Sport and the significant surge in participation we’ve seen across Tasmania since the club launched.”

Founding Memberships Still Open

Founding Memberships remain open until later this year — and there’s still time to be part of this history-making journey. Final closing dates will be shared in the coming months.

Together, we’re building a club that reflects the passion and potential of Tasmania — and we’re only just getting started.
