Launching our newest recruit
17 March 2025
On Tuesday March 18 we celebrate one year since the Club launch across Tasmania. To celebrate being one year closer, the Club hosted an event to introduce our newest recruit and to launch our 2025 Member Offering. The celebration event sold out in less than ten minutes, for those that are not attending, it will be live streamed here.
Rum’un the Devil is Tasmania Football Club’s first mascot, and Rum’un is no ordinary mascot. Rum’un has been developed in partnership with Tasmanian arts organisation, Terrapin Puppet Theatre. Rum’un has been co-designed and developed with school children across Tasmania, with Rum’un’s fur made from recycled school uniforms from across the island.
On Tuesday night, the Club will celebrate with several members of the Tasmania Devils ‘team’, individuals and groups from the community who have been a part of the journey over the past 12 months and constitute some of the 207,000 Founding Members of the Club.
Following this launch, Rum’un will set off around Tasmania engaging with communities and representing Tasmania Football Club. The Club is confident that Rum’un will make an impression wherever they turn up.
The Club will also launch its 2025 Member offer, which provided Founding Members with the opportunity support their Club through a range of exclusive offers. The offers have been built from member feedback gained in late 2024 and will include a refresh of the famous $10 offer that generated 207,000 Founding Members in 2024. Rum’un will be driving the campaign and calling upon the Founding Membership to continue to show their support and ‘Show their Pride in ‘25’.
Tasmania Football Club CEO Brendon Gale said the milestone was worth celebrating, “The Club has had a huge first year, with a range of milestones achieved throughout the year. Some of the highlights have includes the significant increase in football participation across Tasmania, record membership numbers and a coming together to support our Club like we have never seen before.”
Mr Gale added, “We have a lot of work ahead of us, but with the support of our Founding Member base and the community more broadly we will continue to power ahead as we move toward entry into the national competition. Today is about celebrating being one year closer to that becoming a reality.”
“Our newest recruit, Rum’un, will help us on our journey and be a great beacon of our Club across the state. The creation of Rum’un reflects our Club – uniquely Tasmanian, handcrafted and created with grit and determination representing our whole island. Rum’un is also a little bit cheeky. These characteristics are all true to the Tasmania Football Club, a Club that represents our whole state and who does things our way.”
