Your Club Update April 2025

10 April 2025

Dear fellow Devils Members,

It’s April already and the footy season is kicking off around the state. This week we had Board meeting number 17 to check in on the progress of our plans, there is certainly a lot going on inside the Club, and I wanted to provide an update of the key matters that we worked through as a Board:

You would have received a letter from Brendon last week. If you have not had a chance to read this, I encourage you to do so (if you did not get the email, you can find it on our website here), this letter clearly stated the Club's position on the Macquarie Point stadium development and our concerns around some of the recent reports on the economic benefits it will deliver. A new stadium is not a nice to have, it’s a must have for a number of reasons. Firstly, there is no stadia in our state that will accommodate the number of fans that will attend the Devils games. Secondly, the commercial model for our Club is dependant on the forecast returns from the new stadium. Thirdly, the new stadium and the redeveloped UTAS Stadium will turbo charge the broader community benefits to the state - tourism, hospitality, services etc. It would come as no surprise that this remains a high priority for our Board working alongside the Tasmanian Government and a range of other stakeholders to see this project delivered. For this Club to succeed, we need the stadium development and we need it in a timely manner.

Further to the stadium discussion, the Board also discussed our Training and Administration facility. We are really buoyed by the progress of this key project and we are looking forward to seeing it underway in the near future. I know we have mentioned this continuously, but the importance of this piece of infrastructure for the Club cannot be understated, and the need for it as we embark on the build of our football department is simply critical.

The personnel build of the Club is well and underway and the Board got an update on this from Brendon. We are really positive about the calibre of people that are showing interest to work with our Club and we are feeling confident that we are getting closer to several key appointments within the Club. I want to personally express my thanks to all that have applied for roles that we have advertised recently, the response has been incredible.

We also had great updates on our member offer and the commencement of our commercial program. We have seen a great response to both of these things, I would further encourage any potential partners to be in touch with the Club ([email protected]) and for those members that have not made their 2025 member statement, now is the time to do so, go to tasmaniafc.com. There is limited time and quantities on some of the offers, so get in quick.

As a Board we are now embarking on the transition from the establishment to operational phase of the Club, it is such an exciting time and means we are engaging in a raft of different conversations and evolution of governance structures. I cannot imagine the agenda is going to slow down any time soon, and I am completely thrilled about that.

In finishing, I want to echo the message of our current member campaign. Now is not the time to go quiet, now is the time to be louder, prouder and stronger. Things are progressing well, but we need the continued support of our members and community to keep the momentum, and I offer you all three simple ways to do that:

  • Purchase your 2025 member statement - tasmaniafc.com
  • Advocate for your Club within your respective circles of influence
  • Engage with (and share) our communications and content

Thanks again for your ongoing support.

Go Devils.

Grant.
