Your Club Update September 2024
12 September 2024
This week we held out 12th Board meeting in Burnie, it was great to be back on the north-west coast. Whilst on the ground we hosted two breakfast events (one in Burnie and one in Launceston) alongside Stadiums Tasmania and Macquarie Point Development Corporation. The breakfasts provided an excellent opportunity for our Board to meet with so many engage stakeholders, so many of which provided great feedback, input and asked questions about the Club and our progress. We are so grateful for all that attended and for their input into our journey. It's critical for our Club to keep business groups, local Governments, Community Football and media engaged and informed... our commitment is to continue this important Club responsibility.
We were joined by Macquarie Point Development Corporation CEO, Anne Beach, Stadiums Tasmania CEO, James Avery and Cradle Coast Authority CEO, Sheree Vertigan AM for a panel conversation.
We were again joined, this time in Launceston, by Macquarie Point Development Corporation CEO, Anne Beach, Stadiums Tasmania CEO, James Avery, CEO of Launceston Chamber of Commerce, Alina Bain and CEO of Northern Tasmania Development Corporation, Chris Griffin for a panel conversation.
This week we celebrate our one-year anniversary of the announcement and formation of your Tasmania Football Club Board. As I take some time to reflect on the last year, I want to thank our Founding Members for making this year so special for our Club. The year has flown by and we have seen progress in many areas, but there is no doubt that we have plenty more to do and the Board are focused on continuing the momentum.
This Board meeting had a full agenda with a range of things covered off including:
- We approved our Board schedule for 2025. This is important as it outlines when we will be in communities across Tasmania and we are looking forward to locking in events and engagements around the Board meeting, we will be in all regions over the course of 2025 as we have been this year.
- We had extensive discussions on all of the infrastructure projects that are underway (our Training and Administration Facility, Macquarie Point Stadium, UTAS Stadium redevelopment and Dial Park upgrades), all of these projects are so important to our Club achieving its purpose and ambitions.
- We had a detailed brief on all of our marketing activities, we are starting to gain a better understanding of what our members and fans are looking for from their Club, this is a continued area of focus for us. The team also pulled together a great briefing on merchandise, we discussed how we can continue to grow the offering and service and the planning for next year.
- We also had a great discussion around football. Including considerations around the build of our football department and how we build the momentum of AFL content in Tasmania over the coming years as we look forward to the Devils kicking off in the AFL and AFLW.
- We are working on the establishment of some exciting initiatives for the Club, the are not able to be announced yet, but I am excited to see these key projects progressing that we will talk to our members about in the coming months.
Last week we proudly passed 200,000 Tasmania Devil Founding Members, thank you again to every single one of you that have signed up, thanks for your belief and your enthusiasm in helping us grow your Club. We are not resting at 200,000 and so, this week we have launched 100% Devils. This is a new campaign to celebrate groups that have all become Founding Members and to encourage members of the community that are not yet members to come on board. We will be featuring groups that are 100% Devils, so I encourage you all to take a look at the website (tasmaniafc.com/100percentdevils) and get involved, we cannot wait to celebrate groups from all over the world.
The coming months will see the Club continue to focus on our Establishment Phase Business Plan and making sure that we progress all oof the initiatives in that plan.
Thank you again for your ongoing support and engagement, we feel it every day. I hope that you are all enjoying the AFL finals and the start of the AFLW season, we cannot wait to be a part of it in the coming years.
Go Devils!
